Workshops at Summer Camp

Every day of camp, teens participate in up to four 75-minute workshops. Workshops give teens the chance to focus on learning and exploring specific art forms and topics that are interesting to them.
The array of workshops reflects the passions and skills of the staff at any given program and may vary by camp, though the five main arts modalities — Visual Arts, Dance, Theater, Creative Writing, Music — are present at every summer camp. Our goal is to give youth an opportunity to explore the arts and their own creativity within a supportive, arts-based community.
Examples of additional workshop topics:
Poetry
Mural Painting
African Drumming
Percussion
Songwriting
Singing
Hip Hop Dance
Freestyle
Nature Hikes
Plant Identification
Meditation
Capoeira
Acrobalance
Zine-making
Women and the Media
Theater for Social Change
Building Bridges Across Cultures
Youth are encouraged to attend workshops on subjects that are totally new to them, so that they can maximize their learning, expand their comfort zones, and discover the breadth of their talents. Of course youth can go to workshops in arts that they already love too!
By the end of the week, every youth usually has experienced or created visual arts projects, songs, poems, dance moves, and stories to share with their friends and family.
