The Heart of
Facilitation
A
five-month course on leadership, creative development, and group
facilitation
AN INVITATION
We invite you to join
us for a powerful five-month program in leadership
development and facilitation offered by the founders and
leaders of two extremely effective programs for youth and
adults: the Power of Hope and Inside Out Development LLC.
WHO WE ARE
For the past nine years the Power
of Hope has been offering arts-centered, intergenerational
learning programs for youth and adults from diverse cultural
and socio-economic backgrounds. Power of Hope facilitators
are known for their ability to build heart-centered,
cohesive learning communities in which both youth and adults
thrive. Youth leave Power of Hope transformed and empowered
to make positive choices in their lives. Adults gain a
renewed sense of hope and commitment to making positive
change in the world.
Inside Out Development LLC
provides intensive intervention and empowerment programs for
at-risk youth in middle schools and high schools. Inside
Out’s programs have been proven to be highly successful in
re-engaging youth to school, increasing school success in a
variety of areas, and supporting youth in working through
the variety of challenges they face at home, in their
communities, and in school.
The results of these programs come
from an underlying design and rationale that relies on a
strong background in program development, highly developed
facilitation skills, and an in depth understanding of
healthy youth and adult development. Power of Hope and
Inside Out Development frequently train teachers,
counselors, administrators, organizational development
professionals and adult trainers and ways to apply these
skills in a variety of settings.
WHERE AND WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN
The course will take place one
weekend a month for five months.
Participants are expected to attend all five sessions.
Sessions alternate between Portland, OR and Seattle, WA.
The training times each weekend are as follows:
Fridays: 6-9
PM
Saturdays: 9am-9pm
Sundays: 9am-4pm
COST:
$1,500 for the five-month training.
PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM
The purpose of the Heart of
Facilitation is to train people who work with youth and
adult groups to lead heart-centered, creative,
transformative learning programs. Based on the premise that
good facilitators are authentic, creative, responsible and
passionate; this training will weave personal growth with
skill building in facilitation, group work, youth
development and arts-based practices.
The Heart of Facilitation will
be fun, enlivening and challenging. Participants should
expect the training to be at times mentally, physically, and
emotionally taxing. We have purposely created a rigorous
training to make clear the level of skill, commitment, and
integrity it takes to become an effective, top-notch
facilitator. Those who see working with groups not as
“work” but rather as a life path, should feel right at home
with the Heart of Facilitation.
