Join us
for the Reel Youth Film Showcase and Benefit, an evening of
films and entertainment in support of Power of Hope,
Youth Media
Institute, and
Longhouse Media's Native Lens program.
Full of humor, vitality and creativity, the
films showcase the best of youth filmmaking. An event for
the entire family!
The
Vancouver, Canada-based Reel
Youth’s traveling film festival features jury-winning short
films from the U.S., Canada and beyond. All short films and
performance art are created by youth under 19 years of age. More
than 25% of the films originate from the Seattle-area, such as
Longhouse Media’s award-winning film, Rez Life, created by
3 Swinomish Tribal youth.
Audience members can vote for
their favorite films in the People's Choice Awards. Youth
filmmakers are eligible to win prizes including having the winning
film broadcast on Global BC television or
a full scholarship to the
Gulf Islands Film and Television School youth media intensive
program.
All
proceeds from the Reel Youth Film Showcase benefit three Seattle
youth non-profit organizations: Power of Hope, Youth Media
Institute, and Longhouse Media’s Native Lens program.
Power of Hope
unleashes the positive potential of youth through arts-centered
experiential learning programs and by training adults who work
with youth. Youth Media Institute works with diverse youth
to support the expression of arts and culture through various
media technologies. The Native Lens program supports the
growth and expression of Indigenous youth through digital media
making.
Come support
the organizations that support our youth! See you there!
